New Orleans Wish Trees

Organized by individuals gathering over tea to reflect on peace and community

New Orleans Wish Trees
Cultures from around the world have legends and customs around wishtrees. An individual expresses a heart-felt wish, writes it down onpaper and ties it with ribbon to a tree. Sometimes -- if one wishes --one may whisper the wish into the bark, or tell it to the whistlingleaves.

This self-guided interactive installation will bereplenished with new wishtags periodically. We'll also spend time withthe tree (shamans might call it "holding the vision"), as well as sharethe anonymous wishes expressed by passersby and dreamers via Twitter upthrough May 2010. If we receive enough donations, we will install other self-guided installations throughout New Orleans. The first wish tree will be in a central location that sees both local and visitor foot traffic in a historic tree-lined boulevard.
